Biographical Data
My name is Kalomo Sala Jordan, I was born in 1973, in Middletown, CT. I started dealing with art at a real early age. It was when one of my works was chosen to be displayed at the Zilka Gallery on Wesleyan University’s campus here in Middletown. I was in the fifth grade at the time. That sparked the artist in me. In later in life, I picked up a paintbrush again, and things haven’t been the same since. I have come to see the whole planet as art now—but in a very spiritual way…
In 1997, I had a son who was born on February 14 and then passed away three days after from “SIDS.” That was a hard, hard time for me. All I had was art to keep my mind focused. My description of my work comes out of this experience: Spiritual Art Forms from the Other Side is what I call it. In a way, I did come back from the other side. I feel I have a connection to [that spiritual] side, as we each do in our own way. So when I paint or draw, I am souly connected to [the spiritual] realm, and my art simply manifests itself on paper or canvas almost like automatic writing. As for myself, I am in full-meditation [when I create].
It has been my pleasure and good fortune to display my works in places as far from Connecticut as New York, on one hand, and all the way to Japan on another. I look for exposure wherever I can get it. I just keep going at it by getting onto web sites and other outlets. I work with anything I get my hands on…I feel there is no one thing you can produce art with.
All in all, I look forward to sharing my work with [as many people as possible]. I am sure that this is what I was put on this earth to do.
